O dear! why thine eyes
wet and cold
What thoughts in thy heart
unsaid, untold
Tears and pain, thee mumble
not say loud
Thou too tired O dear,
all that noisy crowd?
I lend thee my hand dear,
for thou have fallen and hurt
Would thou hold my hand dear?
hold it, let's get up
Silence, all there would be
wouldn’t be said, a word
Silence though it would be,
Thou would not be unheard
(She rises! looks into eyes)
O thine eyes dear!
I hear their say
Why thy tears dance,
What thy pray'rs pray!
Of those words I have,
'tis this I say:
Thou not give up,
one another assay
Do not give up,
thou be wise
Even the darkest night ends,
the sun rise.
